Looking at next season and other links

I'm optimistic that our basketball team can be better next year. ACC Insider Carlton Tudor is not. He's predicting a 10th place finish.

Here is part three of the ACC football previews from David Glenn. Refreshingly, Glenn is the first guy I've come across that has an informed take on the defense.

The Sailing team continued its dominant season with another victory over the weekend. The win qualified the team for the ICSA Team Race National Championship.

Gerbe remains undecided on his college hockey future.

Track star Kasey Hill earned Eagle of the Year honors for women's sports. Some guy named Matt Ryan won the men's award.

Tom Coughlin still works overtime to honor the legacy of Jay McGillis.

Pardon my ignorance - is Trapani supposed to be pretty good?

BC will have to earn its way back, that's for sure.

If Roche is a starter, I'll jump off Conte!

I'll jump off with you.

Barring injuries/suspensions, Roche will not start next year. Replace Tyler with Josh, and that will probably be our 5. It is also possible that Al would go with Biko starting and have Raji as the 6th man.... that probably depends on how the respective lineups gel and perform together, and whether he wants to take some pressure off of Rice at PG. And there is always the outside chance that Al would start one of the freshman too, but it's too early to tell right now.

As far as Trapani goes, sources seemed to be very impressed with how he was performing in practice last year. He will step into the 4 nicely, it seems. Perhaps this helped push Spears over the edge, as far as transferring. Al is always honest with his players, and I am sure when Shamari showed concern about his decreased playing time, Al told him he could expect more of that in the year to come.

Thanks Matthew.

Al has been known to pick up this kind of player - "As expected, Michigan sophomore center Ekpe Udoh is transferring."

I always liked Tom Coughlin and his work for the Jay Fund and his contact with and compassion for Jay's parents is a true indication of his character.

I wouldn't put too much stock into Tudor's column. For an "ACC Insider," he seemed to exhibit a pretty shallow depth of knowledge about our program-- no mention of Southern (especially because our relative lack of height was his main criticism), projects Roche as a starter (I doubt he even plays), and doesn't even mention that we should see a contribution from Reggie Jackson. Pretty weak effort, really.
