Praise for Roche and other links

Pat Duquette took some time to talk about Tyler Roche and his impact on the team. Roche's season has been a microcosm of this year. He started well, but struggled with injuries and then finding minutes and his role. Now let's hope his solid play of late is the key to a strong finish.

The BC-Under Armour relationship got a small mention in this article on UA's continued growth.

Former BC Tight End and Jack SR son, Bob Bicknell joined Chan Gailey's staff in Buffalo.

As I tweeted yesterday, Chase Rettig is considered one of the sleeper QBs in this recruiting class.

Florida WR Curt Evans is one of BC's targets for 2011.

Someone posted an Ad on Craiglist selling tickets to tonight's hockey game against Lowell for $75 each.....

Isn't that extremely out of touch with all things related to Supply & Demand, Face Value of ticket, market value of the service, lead time until the puck drops, and excitement level of the opponent?

I would blink less if were $7.50 each.

any prototypes for the Under Armour version of BC football jerseys yet? Let's hope they dont continue the trend of "WTF colors are we this year?"

Erik -- nice link.

I like what our newest BC hoop player, Brady Heslip, had to say:

"I play the point. I like to get my teammates involved early. One of my biggest strengths is being able to shoot it, but I personally think my biggest strength is my basketball IQ. I think I can think the game through and make decisions better than a lot of people and I think my lack of speed and athleticism is made up for with my IQ. I don't think I turn it over very much. I can handle pressure and stay calm in intense situations. I really like to be a leader.

I just wonder if he has quickness to compete at the ACC level. A half-step too slow and he won't make it.

I hope we keep similar uniforms. Things I can do without:

1) The eagle head on the sleeve that looks stolen from Philadelphia. I preferred the old style with the spread wings. But any elimination or replacement of that could be an upgrade

2) White Pants. It was a different look for a few years, but the Bowl game made me determine once and for all that Gold Pants look way better.

I work at Servite High School in southern California and we played against Chase Rettig in the playoffs. During that playoff game, our crowd was shocked when he actually took a slide to avoid contact with one of our linebackers. He looked so wimpy that it was included on our highlight reel for the year, and our coach sought me out (knowing I'm a BC alum) to ask what his story was.

I wasn't alarmed, until I saw a slide appear in his performance in some post season game for recruits.

Is it just me, or is a guy willing to take a slide rather than get hit by a 5'10" high school linebacker lacking in the toughness department?

He's got the arm, but I don't know if he has the intangibles and the toughness - which is what separated Matt Ryan.

The best part about the Craigslist ticket thing is that they're playing Providence tonight....

chuck,

chase is The Chosen One. do not question his toughness. that 5'10'' linebacker was about to go for the blessed knees upon which the rocket launcher sits. do you think chase likes chee?

Erik,

When you say you don't like the eagle head logo (here) that looks like it was stolen from Philadelphia (here), did you prefer the spread wings logo (here) that also looks like a Philadelphia logo (here)?

A QB sliding is a good skill. Unless it's 4th down and/or a key situation, there is no need for the QB to risk getting knocked out of the game. It shows intelligence which is generally something most people want out of their QB.

You got it, mod34b! For anyone else interested--

To post a link in the comments, all you need is a simple HTML tag:

[a href="url goes here"] text goes here [/a]

In place of the [ ] marks, use < and >. The only space that should appear in the code inside the <> is between the a and the href. You can insert a link in a sentence seamlessly, or you can make it a stand-alone.

Chuck, Joseph, Dan - I seem to remember Shinskie taking an early slide against the Trojans when we really needed that first down in the 4th quarter. He did not fight for the extra yard or two.
