More incoming transfers and other links

Another day, another transfer. This time Donahue landed former Oregon wing Matt Humphrey. Like Taylor, Humphrey will sit out next season and have two years remaining when he does suit up. He was a bit of a disappointment at Oregon given his recruiting rating coming in, yet is supposed to be a good, high energy kid.

Spaz added LB/FB prospect Nick Lifka to the recruiting class. His high school coach had very good things to say about BC's fit for Lifka.

Scout.com likes what they see in current commit Brian Miller.

EDSBS is marking the biggest dickish moves in college football history. Not surprisingly Lou Holtz's fake punt in 1992 made the list.

I'm ready for First and Lifka.

Mirroring a comment from the previous post, I dont know if these recruits will pan out or not but you can't say Donahue isn't working his balls off.

Yeah, as I read about the commitments and transfers, and especially any account of the Elite camp they hosted, I realize how much the program was on life support before. Even in this age of internet madness, there was so little evidence of any recruiting effort or quotes from players saying they WANTED to play at BC. Even guys like Biko we tipped into by accident.

So I'm pleased with the changes to recruiting, emphasis on the players taking ownership of the program within the school, and the promise of exciting basketball. All good stuff. If the staff and the upperclassmen are also forming a strong bond, then I'll be very content.

This Humphrey transfer could really work out nicely for us. He's a 6'5" guard/forward who was injured for quite a bit of last season. He'll have this whole year to really get healthy and learn the offense. He's a lefty (which I always like to have on a team, Ty-RESE) and shot 35% from the 3-point line his freshmen year and 33% sophomore year. Oregon blogs said he was an emotional leader as well, a really vocal and passionate player. Hope he works out, but I'm feeling good about this one.

Also, ATL, thanks for getting me through this part of the year with all your posts (no basketball or football, it's killing me).

Good synopsis, Galvin.

He was rated as 4 stars by Rivals coming out with a good list of Big10/BigEast offers.

From looking at his video, he looks like a very good spot-up shooter and ball distributor.

Not many of the young alums remember the fake punt in 1992 (in fact, this year's freshmen were just newborns believe it or not!), but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm fully convinced that our great streak against ND is the result of very bad karma for the Irish from that fake punt. Coughlin was so pissed that he studied game film all summer resulting in the big victory in the final seconds in South Bend that fall. Hence, the Holy War was born.
