'Canes hammer Baseball and other links

BC lost both parts of a double-header against Miami on Sunday. The first game was ugly. The second was better but had to be called early due to Miami's travel needs. The team has fallen to 10-15 on the season.

Do you watch NFL Matchup? The Executive who breaks down that film really likes Castonzo.

For those of you who get a weekend paper, you may have noticed the Parade All American team. BC commit Kyle Caudill made the second team. What's puzzling is that Ryan Anderson wasn't even mentioned.

i hope he looks better in person, because every in video i can find of caudill he looks like an awkward fat mess. he excels because he is 7'0'', not because he is particularly skilled (or at least it seems that way). he made me think of a taller and less graceful shamari spears. let's hope some good college level conditioning/coaching can help.

I was at BC with the new baseball coach. Let's just say he wasn't the brightest bulb.

While baseball got rocked, the softball team won a double header against NC State including a 14th inning walkoff homerun. They already have 5 ACC wins which is unprecedented for the team.

Even you younger fans have to root for Notre Dame in the Frozen Four and the Womens Basketball Championship. Yers, I am disappointed that we are not at the Frozen Four - but that's the reality. We still had a great year in both Womens and Mens Hockey.

Congratulations to ND on a great year.

Yikes. Saying "a less graceful Shamari Spears" is like saying "He's like Sean Marshall but with poorer shot selection."

I think one of the main problems with Tranq is that he never established any bread and butter plays that BC could rely on to pick up yardage. One week we'd install the wildcat, the next it'd be gone completely. With that in mind, via EDSBS, I thought this article on installing game plans was pretty interesting.

ummm.... Montel up the middle 30 times per game.

really it was a case of too much bread and butter.

HAHAHA. Well played mod. I suppose I meant bread and butter plays...that worked.

BJK: Root for ND hockey? Are you nuts? I'd root for the other ND, the Fighting Sioux, or even the Yankees before I'd root for a Notre Dame team in any sport, especially hockey. Does any school in the country have an easier time recruiting athletes or staff? Yes, I envy ND's heritage/tradition/brand; that's a perfectly legitimate foundation for rivalry.

Agreed. No matter what, can't bring myself to root for ND in any sport (though I wasn't upset for their women's bball team to beat UConn - but I will root for A&M in the final). I don't really mind who wins as long as it isn't ND in the hockey

Not sure what the Shamari Spears hatred is all about. Sure he was fat an not the most productive ACC player but it had nothing to do with his lack of skill. He was actually a very skillful low-post player who was limited by the fact he was a PF generously listed at 6-6. Look at what he did after he left BC against non-BCS conference opponents. I would go so far as to say that if Spears were 6-11 he would've had a very good shot at the NBA.

clearly he must look better in person if he's being named to the all-american team, no? there have been plenty of 7 footers who have not been "particularly skilled" who nonetheless had success solely because they could run back and forth, had adequate hands, and were competitive.

BC brining in 2 talented and acclaimed big men is an impressive first year of recruiting for coach D alone. i also like what i've seen of the PG they signed (although small).

I love you, BJK, but the Frozen Four would have to be held in hell before I could pull for Notre Dame in any sport, especially when we should be playing.

I had too much coffee this morning, Dixie. I see the light, but was very happy to see CT go down.

As long as we didn't make it, it's too bad Merrimack didn't prevail over ND - now that would have been something.

"ABC" tonight - A Butler Championship; Anyone But Connecticut!

I completely agree, BJK!!!

I love Cinderella stories (even if a pretty formidable Cinderella) and have lots of Indiana connections who are pulling for Butler. Go dorky guys!
