Hoops at MSG and other links

BC Basketball announced a game with Auburn next year. The game -- part of a doubleheader at Madison Square Garden -- is sponsored by Under Armour. Both schools are with UA. Aside from keeping Under Armour happy, the game is smart scheduling. Auburn is rebuilding too and we get to play them on a neutral court. Hopefully BC fans in New York will turn out for the game.

Both of our coordinator changes (offensive | defensive) are under the spotlight.

The Colts seem interested in Justin Simmons.

A nice attempt to troll BC fans. A coach many BC fans wanted v. a coach zero BC fans wanted.

"If you build it, they will come". MSG is still a supreme venue. This is good PR. I just returned from New York and saw Villanova beat Iowa at Barclay's. It is the new Taj Mahal of basketball. BC should target playing a game there. The venue is in Brooklyn with easy subway access (8 different lines) and in a safe and lighted area with lots of shops. MSG is on its way out as "top dog" being in a crowded and busy area.

Mod,

All the young folks are in Brooklyn. My daughter goes to Pratt, not far from the Barclay's Center. No one can afford to live in Manhattan anymore and it is a Disneyland for the extreme wealthy and international elites who buy up condos and only stay in them a few weeks a year. It may be king, but only kings can afford to live there.

@mod34b: probably so, but Brooklyn is coming on strong. "eagleboston" has a good point about the redevelopment. Manhattan is where it is at but Brooklyn is lots cheaper. I stayed at a small hotel on the upper West Side on the upper edge of Central Park. A double bed and small nice room with a bath was 130.00. I was pleased but Brooklyn is cheaper but still scary. A game with St. John's would probably be appreciated by both sides. Fordham and Manhattan are both there as well.

It's actually more expensive to rent in Brooklyn now because it's so popular.

JBQ is a little late in his comment. We've played at the Barclays twice already, I went to one of the games. The ACC tourney will be there the next 2 years, so the Garden definitely has some competition.

Minor quibble mod, the Nets stopped playing at Nassau in the late 70s. You're probably thinking of the Islanders, who just moved to Barclays last year.

Mod, sorry, skipped right over that.
