Respect from the Champs and other links

When Jameis Winston referenced the BC game repeatedly after the BCS Championship Game, most in the media laughed it off. Well he's not the only Seminole singing BC's praises and saying our game was a turning point for them. Here is what DT Timmy Jernigan had to say:

"We were down 17-0 against Boston College, I guess everyone forgot about that," Jernigan said angrily. "It doesn't matter, they play football the same way we do, they put their pants on the same way we do. They had a Heisman finalist, but Boston College had a Heisman finalist, too, so what's the difference? Nothing. Boston College's offensive line is just as good as theirs, maybe even better. (Staring into camera) Nobody want to talk about that," he said when a reported tried to differentiate the two games.

Rutgers is considering Spaz for their open DC spot. I wouldn't want him but would be glad if they hire him. It might save BC a few bucks on his payout.

BC DL coach Albert leaked that Edebali and Ramsey earned invites to the NFL Combine. I expect a few other names (Patchan, Williams, KPL) to become official in the coming days.

KPL at some stages of the season carried the defense on his back. Kasim was really great in spots during the season. Ramsey had his moments but carried a "might have been" tag. Patchan actually "was" the offensive line. Every big play ran behind him. The news of the "cupboard being bare" continues to build in apprehension. The qb, your dominant running back, your punter-kicker, your best offensive lineman, your best defensive player, your best defensive lineman, your big hoss in the middle who could have been, what kind of team will be left? On paper, you are looking at an unmitigated disaster. So far, I like Addazio's enthusiasm. However if you go to the Temple website, they were glad to see him and his "one pony" offense go. He did not give any backups any experience for next year.

Glad for the guys with the combine invitations.

At this point, no further news about BC seniors to be invited to the Senior Bowl, though as players withdraw for various reasons, invitations will likely be extended for another week or so. Hard for me to believe that someone from Harvard has been invited and Amidon, Freese, Edebali, etc., haven't.

If a guy from Harvard is seen as being worthy , of course he'll be invited. It is a business and where a player went to school does not make a whit of concern. All they caare about is: can he contribute.

JBQ, you are boring. Who cares what sour grapes says at temple whine about. So someone on a website says something. Does that make it true? You must believe Rush Limburger when he says that all the cold this winter proves that global worming is a fraud.

The Harvard player (Tyler Ott, who played TE this year with very modest results, but is coming to the Sr. Bowl as a long snapper) may well contribute as a niche player, though he was not even named to the All-Ivy League team.

I still find it puzzling that no other (besides Williams) All-ACC calibre players from BC have received invitations. Haven't been able to pry anything out of our Sr. Bowl PR friend.

I don't think we should even field a team next year. What's the point? We are losing so much rare talent. Save the money on travel, hotel, food, tutors, the band. I mean, really, who would want to see what the new coach is capable of with a few more of his recruits. That's absurd. Come to think of it, that might save some people from having to read the comments section of blogs. What with the overhyping of southern college football from the really smart northeasterners at espn and the company's conspiratorial designs on the UN and its really awesomely done science on global warming and its force feeding us Jesse Palmer for Emperor of the galaxy, I think I might be on board. Stick to hockey and sailing. And get rid of the coeds. Too distracting.

CT,
I agree 100%. Can you think of a freshman that contributed in college football over the last two years? I sure can't, sure has heck hasn't made a dent in the national championship picture or heisman race.

I've known this for a couple of days, but had to keep quiet. Andre Williams has withdrawn from the Senior Bowl. The info is buried in this story:

Freshman. Redshirts. Malzahn. Fancy language.

AW's absence from the Senior Bowl is a big deal. That injury must have been more serious or re-aggravated. NFL GM's want to see you play with/against the best. Saw McShay had him as the No. 5 RB in the draft. Kinda screams 3rd round to me. Hopefully his pro day at BC will be profitable. You can probably self-publish poetry with 3 mil in the bank, though I would advise him to get a new residence outside of the northeast to save on state taxes. What a waste.

Word on the street here in Mobile about AW is 5-7th round, which sounds nuts to me.

Not being skilled in pass receiving has to hurt his draft stock.

I guess that might make sense.

A bruiser with speed and character mitigated by the two back NFL system. That 40 at pro day might be worth a lot of money.
