Hockey beats Harvard

BC started strong and built an early lead. When it felt like BC was going to put the Crimson away, Harvard scored and managed to change the momentum. But that would be it. Harvard pulled their goalie really early in an attempt to cut the lead, but BC added an empty netter to close it out. BC now faces Minnesote-Duluth, who beat Providence in OT.

Hockey opens Tourney against Denver

The NCAA rolled out the selections and seeding for the NCAA Tournament Sunday. BC will face Denver in the first round. The game is Saturday at 3 pm ET on ESPN 2. If they advance, they will face the winner of Miami of Ohio and Providence on Sunday. Congrats and let's go win this.

Gaudreau lights it up, BC advances

BC's moving on after crushing Denver 6-2 in the NCAA Tournament opener. Everything clicked from the start, but Gaudreau really made the difference. He scored three times including in the first minute.

BC plays the winner of Lowell and Minnesota State Sunday.

Mixed night for Hockey

After a disastrous night Friday, the BC Men's team bounced back and evened their series with Notre Dame. Gaudreau led the way with two goals and two assists as BC beat the Irish 4-2. The teams will play Sunday afternoon to see who advances in the Hockey East Tournament.

The news wasn't as good for the BC Women. They lost to Clarkson 3-1. The loss eliminated the Eagles from the NCAA Tournament.

Best news of the Day

This is very good news. I don't know how much the eye surgery will slow York down or if he'll be able to travel the following week (assuming we win), but I am happy for him that he'll be part of this tournament.

Hockey to face Union in Providence

As expected BC earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. We will play Union this Saturday night. The winner faces the winner of Canisius and Quinnipiac. The good news is that the game is in Providence so any BC fan wanting to go can. We also got a decent bracket and have a very good chance of advancing to another Frozen Four.

BC provided no guidance on Jerry York's status. I would find it hard to imagine him coming back this week.

For more on the tournament, check out USCHO's bracket breakdown.

Tax dollars at work (in a good way)

Love to see this sort of work being done. Maybe to save money we should just build a massive sign and leave space for future titles.

Frozen Four bound again

BC put up the above image shortly after BC wrapped up its 4-0 win over Minnesota Duluth. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by their well-timed marketing as we are becoming old pros at the Frozen Four. This is our 10th Frozen Four in 15 years. We obviously want and expect to win it all, but I think we need to pause for a moment and recognized Jerry York's greatness. Despite the roster turnover, despite replacing incredible goalies, York produces the sports best team's every year.

As for this game, BC controlled the pace early. We didn't score but had some good opportunities. After BC scored in the second, the game got a little chippy. But BC's power play and penalty kill were both very good. Coming off this run, I would think BC is the heavy favorite to win it all. Let's go Eagles!

BC takes on Minnesota in the late game Thursday.

Hockey advances and other links

It wasn't pretty but BC advanced to the next round of the NCAA Tournament by beating Air Force 2-0. BC held the lead from the first period but couldn't build on it. The final goal came late. Both scores came courtesy of Chris Kreider. They take on Minnesota-Duluth Sunday night. That game will be on ESPN U.

BC held its second scrimmage on Saturday. Word is that despite the so-so stats, Rettig looked pretty good. Bordner played well too. The bigger concern remains the lack of depth all over the field.

Baseball split a double-header with Georgia Tech on Saturday. But combined with their win Friday, and the Eagles won their first ACC series of the year.

Finally watch Tyrese Rice nail this full-court shot.

Cornell upsets Michigan reminder for BC-Air Force

Friday night Cornell -- a 4 seed -- upset Michigan in overtime. In a survive and advance formula everything is heightened. I hope Jerry York reminded his guys of that as BC gets ready to take on another plucky 4 seed in Air Force.

The other higher seed to fall was Miami of Ohio. They were knocked out by UMass Lowell. BC starts its run at 4 PM on Saturday. The game is on ESPN U.
